Identifying and Resolving Performance Problems

The Task Manager and Performance Monitor are used to determine whether performance is suffering in any way. A major cause of performance degradation is bottlenecks—that is, one or more resources operating at or near 100 percent of capacity.

The four major components that can be monitored and enhanced fall under the following groupings:

• Memory
• Processor
• Disks
• Network
