| Objectives: | Establish a course of action when the boot process fails |
| Time Estimate: | 20 minutes |
| 1. | Insert a blank floppy disk in the disk drive and format that disk. |
| 2. | Open the Windows NT Explorer and select the boot.ini, NTLDR, and ntdetect.com. |
| 3. | Copy these four files to the floppy disk to create the NT boot floppy disk. |

| 6. | Choose the Command Prompt command from the Programs submenu of the Start menu. |
| 7. | Type RDISK /S and press the Enter key. |
| 8. | Click on the Create Repair Disk button in the Repair Disk Utility dialog box (refer back to fig. 7.3). |
| 9. | Insert a formatted floppy disk, and then click on the OK button. |
| 10. | After Windows NT Workstation creates the ERD, remove the floppy disk, write-protect the disk, and store it away. |
| 11. | Click on the Exit button to close RDSIK. |
