Monitoring System Performance

This section takes a close look at the activities going on behind the scenes of Windows NT Workstation 4.0. Unfortunately, no absolute correct answer or value can be given to a specific reading. The goal here is to explain the purpose and use of each tool.

The only method used to evaluate a given result is to compare it to a benchmark value. These benchmarks will be gathered over time and should be kept on record. Microsoft as well as third-party magazines do publish some guideline values that are mentioned in this chapter. These guidelines are examples and suggestions. Remember that each system and situation differs. Thus you may not be able to implement some of the suggestions mentioned in this chapter.
