Spooler Service

The Spooler service is what controls the print spooling process under Windows NT. If your users cannot print to a printer and there are documents in the print queue that will not print and cannot be deleted (even by the administrator), you may need to stop and restart the Spooler service (see Figure 3.21).

To stop and restart the spooler service, complete the following steps:
1.Open the Control Panel by Start menu, Settings, Control Panel.
2.Click on the Spooler service in the list of services.
3.Click on Stop. When prompted to verify that you want to stop the service, click on Yes.
4.After the service has been stopped, click on the Start button within the Services dialog box to restart the Spooler service.

While the Spooler service is stopped, no one can print to the shared printer.
Stopping and restarting the Spooler service clears just the jammed print job from the queue and then allows the other print jobs to continue printing.
