Sharing a Folder Locally

To share a folder locally, meaning that you are sitting at the workstation that holds the folder you would like to share, right-click on the folder and choose the Sharing option. This brings up the properties of the folder, with the focus on the Sharing tab (see Figure 3.8).

To locally create a shared folder, complete the following steps:
1.Click on the Shared As radio button.
2.Enter the Share Name you would like to use. (Remember that DOS and Windows 3.x clients cannot access share names longer than 8 characters.)
3.Optionally, enter in a comment to describe this shared resource.
4.Optionally, set a user limit for the number of simultaneous connections.

Windows NT Workstation has a built-in limit of 10 inbound network connections. Selecting a higher number in the User Limit section does not increase this number.
5.Assign permissions to the shared folder.
