Setting Up and Modifying User Profiles
User profiles are automatically created when a user logs on to Windows NT. A user profile establishes the settings that contribute to a user’s working environment. This includes such things as wallpaper, desktop shortcuts, and network connections. The user’s profile contains all user-definable settings for the user’s environment.

On Windows NT Workstation, a user profile is automatically created for every user who logs on to the workstation. This is unlike Windows 95, which enables you to select whether to use user profiles. This is the type of issue you may see brought up in a test question.
